Alligator Push-Ups: Technique, Muscles Worked and Progression

Combine a low crawling step with alternating uneven push-ups.

Short answer: From a plank, step one hand forward while bringing the opposite knee ahead, perform a low push-up, then crawl forward and switch sides. Keep the body close to the floor without losing control.

Learn the pattern

Practice bear crawling and staggered push-ups separately. Move one limb at a time until the sequence feels predictable.

Muscles worked

Chest, triceps and shoulders press while core, hips and legs coordinate the crawl. The uneven position creates side-to-side demand.

Regression

Use a shorter step, keep knees down or perform stationary staggered push-ups.

Programming

Use 3–4 sets of 4–8 steps per side over a clear floor. Stop when depth or coordination deteriorates.

Crawl forward and move the saga with you

RepSaga turns completed push-ups into battle progress while the dynamic pattern keeps training fresh.
