Short answer: Place one hand slightly ahead of the shoulder and the other slightly behind, perform controlled push-ups, then switch positions. Keep the offset modest and match repetitions on both sides.
Setup
Begin from your normal hand position. Move one palm forward by roughly half a hand length and the other back. Brace and lower between the hands.
What changes?
Each side experiences different leverage and stability demands. The exercise does not isolate separate chest regions, but can prepare you for uneven and archer push-ups.
Progression
Start on an incline, increase the offset gradually and then progress range or reps. Avoid combining a large offset with excessive width.
Programming
Perform 3 sets of 5–10 with each hand forward. Start with the weaker-feeling position and match it.
Two positions, one consistent saga
RepSaga tracks the push-up habit while you keep left and right work balanced.
Frequently asked
Which hand works harder?
The load distribution changes with setup, so train both positions equally.
Are staggered push-ups advanced?
They are intermediate, but an incline makes them accessible.
